Distinguishing Attribute

The Distinguishing Attribute settings on the Properties page are disabled unless the new feature type uses the same GIS table as an existing feature type. In these instances of shared tables, the Distinguishing Attribute information is required to prevent conflicts.

If you enter a name in the GIS Table field that is already used by another feature type, a warning message is displayed. Clicking the Cancel button on the message box allows you to enter a different table name for the feature type. Clicking the OK button opens the Distinguishing Attribute dialog box so that you can provide the required Distinguishing Attribute information.
